Containerized Seawater RO Desalination System for Freshwater Production
Chuangdong's containerized seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination system offers a practical solution for converting seawater into freshwater for coastal communities, offshore facilities, hotels, and remote industrial sites. This integrated containerized water treatment system simplifies transportation and on-site installation. Depending on the required freshwater production capacity and feed water quality, the seawater RO desalination system can be configured to meet different freshwater supply needs.

How Does a Containerized Seawater Reverse Osmosis System Work?
Reverse osmosis (RO) seawater desalination is a desalination process
based on membrane separation technology. The core principle is to drive
seawater through a semi-permeable membrane under high pressure.By taking advantage of the membrane's microporous structure (with a poresize of approximately 0.1 nanometers), it selectively retains salts, heavymetals and impurities, allowing only water molecules to pass through, thereby achieving seawater desalination. This process has relatively lowenergy consumption (about 3-6 kWh/m 2), and the desalination rate canreach over 99%.
Key Equipment and Components
The Chuangdong integrated water treatment plant combines multiple treatment units into a coordinated system to ensure stable operation and consistent water quality. The main components of the containerized seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination system typically include:
- Pretreatment filters
- Cartridge filters
- High-pressure pumps
- Reverse osmosis membrane pressure vessels
- Control panels
- Post-treatment equipment
The SWRO membrane system is responsible for separating dissolved salts from seawater under high pressure, while auxiliary equipment helps maintain the required operating conditions and supports reliable seawater desalination system performance.
Available Container Sizes and Layout Options
Based on the freshwater production requirements and on-site conditions discussed in the preliminary plan, Chuangdong designs different container sizes and internal layouts for its containerized RO desalination systems. Common options may include 20-foot and 40-foot containers, depending on the selected system capacity and equipment arrangement. As a containerized RO plant supplier, we assess equipment placement, maintenance access, pipeline connections, and electrical control requirements to develop suitable layout plans for each project.Explore our other industrial water treatment systems to learn more about our water treatment solutions.
